The Saucony Hurricane line has never lived up to its name, unless you consider a hurricane to be especially comfortable and approachable, but it has delivered some of the best running shoesof recent years for stability seekers.

I’ve enjoyed the past two models, and the Saucony Hurricane 26 improves upon both of them thanks to a new midsole foam that makes the ride softer, springier and reduces overall weight.

It’s still not a shoe I’d grab for speed sessions, but when it comes to cruising through easy long runs and daily training, it’s an impressively comfortable and supportive option.

Saucony Hurricane 26 review: Price and availability

The Saucony Hurricane 26 launched in summer 2026 and costs $170 in the U.S. and £170 in the U.K., which is far from cheap but in line with other flagship stability models like the Asics Gel-Kayano 33 and Nike Structure Plus.

Saucony Hurricane 26 review: Design and fit

The Saucony Hurricane 26 is currently available in nine colors for the men’s shoe and 10 for the women’s. There are also five colors available in a wide version.

I found it fits me well in my normal running shoe size; the same size I use across the Saucony line-up.

At 9.7oz in my US men’s size 10, it’s over an ounce lighter than the Hurricane 25, which is all down to the lighter midsole foam because it has the same 6mm drop and stack height of 41mm at the heel and 35mm at the forefoot.

    Upper

The Hurricane 26’s upper is built for comfort rather than focusing on lightness and breathability, which is no bad thing in a max-cushioned shoe like this.

It has a lot of padding on the tongue and a lot of color, and it holds the foot snugly throughout runs, in my experience. It can get a little sweaty in hot conditions, though, especially under the thick tongue.

    Midsole

The Hurricane 26 uses two foams in the midsole: a springy core made from the brand’s IncrediLux material surrounded by a frame of PWRRUN, and a firmer foam that provides stability on either side of the foot.

It’s the same setup as the Hurricane 24 and Hurricane 25, but with IncrediLux used instead of PWRRUN PB, which makes the new shoe feel softer and bouncier, though not quite as lively as the Saucony Triumph 24, which has a full IncrediLux midsole.

    Outsole

The Hurricane 26 uses a thick layer of ridged rubber to cover most of the forefoot and heel, leaving the midfoot exposed.

It’s quite a firm rubber but didn’t add any harshness to the ride, and the Hurricane 26 gripped well for me on my runs. There’s no noticeable wear on the rubber yet either, and I expect the Hurricane 26 to be durable.

Saucony Hurricane 26 review: Running performance

The Saucony Hurricane 24 was a surprise favorite for me when I tested it, and I enjoyed the Hurricane 25 as more of the same. Having enjoyed the IncrediLux midsole on the Triumph 24, I had high expectations for the Hurricane 26.

I’ve used the shoe for a lot of easy running, and it’s met my expectations on those runs. It’s very comfortable and soft, but not so squishy underfoot as to sap the energy from your stride.

It actually has a decent amount of energy return for a comfort-focused shoe, and the mild rocker design moves you smoothly from heel to toe.

I found it noticeably lighter and softer than the previous model. While the updates haven’t turned the Hurricane 26 into a great speed shoe or all-rounder, they’ve made it even better at its main job of being comfortable and stable for daily training at easy paces.

When I did try to run at faster paces in the shoe, it became a bit clunky. It’s not too heavy, but it has a wide profile and doesn’t naturally support faster efforts. I’d pair it in a running shoe rotation with a lighter, speedier shoe.

The stability elements are subtle but deliver support on both sides of the foot, and the wide base also feels secure. I’m a neutral runner, but I appreciate the extra support when doing recovery runs on tired legs.

Should you buy the Saucony Hurricane 26?

If you use a stability running shoe, I’d recommend the Hurricane 26 as the most comfortable option I’ve tested in 2026.

It’s even plusher underfoot than other max-cushioned stability options like the Asics Gel-Kayano 33 and Nike Structure Plus, and has a smoother ride feel too.

If you want a lighter, more versatile stability option, then the Hoka Arahi 9 would be a better buy. It’s not as cushioned and comfortable as the Hurricane 26, but lighter and nimbler and better for faster runs.

The Hurricane 26 is expensive, and there is still merit in considering the Hurricane 25 on sale. If budget permits, I prefer the new shoe.
