Va. (WDBJ) – A massive development site off Interstates 81 and 581 could soon be home to a large-scale data center facility, but public records show the company listed on the paperwork shares key ties with major tech industry giants
The Western Virginia Regional Industrial Facility Authority (WVRIFA) announced Tuesday that Clearview Dynamics LLC is evaluating the 111-acre Wood Haven Technology Park for a proposed data center.
State business records reveal Clearview Dynamics is a newly formed entity created in January. When asked whether the LLC is the actual facility operator, WVRIFA Executive Director John Hull confirmed, “Well, yes.”
However, corporate records reveal a familiar pattern behind the name. Clearview Dynamics lists its registered agent through an employee at Corporation Service Company (CSC)—a specialized entity management firm routinely used by tech giants like Meta, Microsoft, and Google to acquire land anonymously.
Notably, CSC lists the exact same registered address on Clearview Dynamics’ corporate filings as it does on official state records for Google’s planned data center project in neighboring Botetourt County.
Public records show Google previously evaluated Wood Haven Technology Park during its initial expansion into the region before ultimately selecting Botetourt County. At the time, water capacity was a key factor. The Western Virginia Water Authority recently confirmed it is constructing an expanded pipeline to supply the Wood Haven park with additional water capacity from the Spring Hollow Reservoir.
When WDBJ asked Hull directly whether Google is behind Clearview Dynamics, he declined to comment on corporate ownership.
“Madeleine, we will not be disclosing anything else beyond the release today,” Hull said.
According to authority officials, Clearview Dynamics will pay for all utility demands, pledging that local taxpayers will not bear the cost for the necessary water, power, or infrastructure upgrades.
Clearview Dynamics is currently in a due diligence phase to evaluate the site’s environmental, geotechnical, and utility viability. An earnest money deposit—acting like a security deposit showing a good-faith commitment to purchase the land—is expected on October 7. Due diligence is scheduled to run through March 2027 before any property sale is finalized.
