Bose is launchingtwo open-ear models targeting different listeners at two price points, with pre-orders opening around September 19 and both products shipping October 1. The Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) are priced at $299, while the Sport Open Earbuds come in at $199.

Bose Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen)

Same cuff-clip architecture from 2024, now with better audio and a new spatial mode for video.

The second-gen Ultra Open keeps the distinctive cuff-clip design but upgrades the drivers for deeper bass, higher maximum volume, and clearer call quality Bose says the earbuds deliver “improved audio reproduction, specifically deeper bass, louder volume, and clearer calls.”

The standout addition is Cinema Mode, a spatial audio profile within Bose’s TrueSpatial system tuned specifically for movies and video podcasts. Battery life is rated at 9 hours on-ear, with roughly 20 additional hours stored in the new wireless charging case, which stands upright for easier pad placement. Activating Immersive Audio or Cinema Mode will reduce that figure, a trade-off multiple outlets flagged in early coverage.

Connectivity runs on Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint and AptX support. Post-launch firmware updates will add Google Find Hub, Alexa+, and Apple Music shortcutsearbuds carry an IPX4 splash resistance rating and come in Black, White Smoke, and limited-edition Cherry Chocolate, Olive Green, and Sky Pink

    Bose Sport Open Earbuds

A rebooted fitness nameplate with IP54 durability and no spatial audio to reduce battery life.

    • Soft matte silicone C-arm cuff; IP54 rated for sweat, splash, and dust (not swim-proof)
    • Up to 7 hours playback; approximately 22 hours total with the wireless charging case
    • Tactile physical controls designed for reliable use during sweaty or fast-moving workouts
    • Auto Volume and multipoint connectivity; no Immersive Audio or Cinema Mode
    • Available in Black, White Smoke, and limited-edition Eucalyptus Green; priced at $199

The Sport Open revives a nameplate Bose discontinued in 2021, now rebuilt for running, HIIT, and outdoor training. Bose describes the fit as secure, built around a soft silicone C-arm cuff The company adds that IP54 protection, tactile controls, and open audio work together to keep listeners naturally aware of their surroundings

Because spatial audio modes are absent, the 7-hour battery figure should hold closer to real-world conditions than the Ultra’s 9-hour claim. Full independent benchmarks are still emerging. For situational awareness during hard workouts, the Sport Open at $199 is the practical pick. For spatial audio and a premium daily driver, the Ultra Open 2nd Gen at $299 covers that ground.
