The second-gen Ultra Open keeps the distinctive cuff-clip design but upgrades the drivers for deeper bass, higher maximum volume, and clearer call quality Bose says the earbuds deliver “improved audio reproduction, specifically deeper bass, louder volume, and clearer calls.”
The standout addition is Cinema Mode, a spatial audio profile within Bose’s TrueSpatial system tuned specifically for movies and video podcasts. Battery life is rated at 9 hours on-ear, with roughly 20 additional hours stored in the new wireless charging case, which stands upright for easier pad placement. Activating Immersive Audio or Cinema Mode will reduce that figure, a trade-off multiple outlets flagged in early coverage.

For situational awareness during hard workouts, the Sport Open at $199 is the practical pick. For spatial audio and a premium daily driver, the Ultra Open 2nd Gen at $299 covers that ground.
