Residents in Western NSW now have access to cutting-edge cancer care, with the latest technology in radiation therapy now available to patients at Dubbo Health Service.
Western NSW Local Health District has become the first public health provider in Australia to deliver Rapid Arc Dynamic.
Rapid Arc Dynamic (RAD) delivers highly precise, personalised radiotherapy treatment. The technique allows clinicians to accurately target tumours while reducing radiation to surrounding healthy tissue.
The technique is suitable for a range of treatments, especially for tumours with longer lengths and patients with nodal spread.
Rapid Arc Dynamic treatment commenced at Western Cancer Centre Dubbo in July 2026 and is planned for clinical implementation at Central West Cancer Centre, Orange in September. Training for the new technology has been rolled out across the district.
Alongside the new technology, Western Cancer Centre at Dubbo Health Service offers a range of cancer care services including:
- outpatient consultation appointments for people recently diagnosed with cancer, patients undergoing treatment and patients who have received treatment
- radiotherapy
- chemotherapy
- immunotherapy
- haematology
