Samsung’s open-ear Galaxy Buds On leak with clip design, ‘Auto Volume,’ gestures [Gallery]

Word has been out on a new pair of open-ear Galaxy Buds from Samsung and, now, a detailed leak shows off the design as well as some of the features of “Galaxy Buds On.”

SammyGurutoday published official-looking renders of “Galaxy Buds On” – previously known as “Buds Able” – showing a clip-style design for the open-ear earbuds. It’s been a popular style, also showing up from the likes of Bose, Nothing, and other brands. Samsung’s take on the form factor is perhaps a bit more bulbous, but the general concept is the same.

Some illustrations show how the earbud clips onto your ear.

Elsewhere, the Buds Manager app that revealed these images also shows support for an “Auto Volume” feature as well as head nod/shake gestures, voice memo, and AI assistant integration. A string from the app says:

If you set up touch and hold controls as a voice recorder app, you can quickly start and stop voice recorder with your earbuds. Recorded voice memos are automatically converted to text, and you can call Bixby to search by voice without needing to take out your phone.

The app also mentions a feature that pauses music automatically when the wearer is detected to be asleep (a One UI 9 feature).

“Galaxy Buds On” have leaked multiple times at this point, but this leak suggests they’re coming sooner than later. An exact release date is unclear, but Samsung has other devices in the pipeline including Galaxy Tab S12 and Android XR glasses, so there’s certainly something around the corner.
