SAN ANTONIO — A man is facing a third-degree felony charge after authorities say he used an artificial intelligence platform to generate detailed threats of a mass shooting directed at an elementary school.

An arrest warrant was issued for 22-year-old Nathaniel Michael Carrasco on a charge of terroristic threat causing public fear of serious bodily injury.

According to the arrest affidavit, the FBI National Threat Operations Section alerted local law enforcement on Aug. 28 regarding threatening queries made during an AI chat on Aug. 11. Investigating officers stated Carrasco used Anthropic AI to express intentions to obtain a firearm and carry out a shooting targeting students at Serna Elementary School.

Local investigators, working alongside federal authorities, confirmed Carrasco’s identity and linked him to the account through emergency disclosure requests fulfilled by T-Mobile, Charter Communications, and Google. The records connected Carrasco to the associated IP traffic, phone number, and his address.

The charge carries a bond to be set upon Carrasco being taken into custody and booked into the Bexar County Jail.
