TL;DR
- Samsung is rolling out the September 2026 security patch for the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy S24 FE.
- The update fixes 90 security issues but does not include the stable version of One UI 9.0 based on Android 17.

Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Galaxy S24 FE globally. Unfortunately, if you’ve been waiting for stable One UI 9 on these devices, you’re still out of luck.
While Samsung has already started rolling out One UI 9 beta updates to the Galaxy S24 series, the stable release remains pending. The latest update comes just in time for the month’s end and brings the September 2026 security patch to the Galaxy S24 series, addressing 90 security issues.
According to tipster Tarun Vats, the update is around 450MB and carries firmware version S92xBXXSHDZI1 for the international variants of the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 FE is getting a slightly smaller 438.23MB update with firmware version S721BXXSEDZI1, as spotted by Alfaturk16 on X.
The September security patch addresses dozens of vulnerabilities, so it’s still worth installing even though it doesn’t bring the more exciting One UI 9 upgrade.
If you own one of these phones, you can check for the update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Samsung hasn’t announced when the stable version of One UI 9, based on Android 17, will arrive for the Galaxy S24 series.
Interestingly, Samsung has also already started rolling out the October 2026 security patch to some of its phones, with the Galaxy S26 series reportedly among the first to receive it. That raises the possibility that Samsung could eventually bundle the newer security patch with the stable One UI 9 update for the Galaxy S24 series.
For now, though, Galaxy S24 owners will have to settle for a security update while they wait for the bigger upgrade.
