Apple is expected to announce its first-ever foldable iPhone tomorrow, which rumors say could be called the iPhone Ultra. Here are some last-minute rumors about what to expect.

    Starting price

In a new report today, Bloomberg said Apple was initially targeting a $1,999 starting price for the iPhone Ultra. However, due to rising component costs, Apple has most recently discussed a $2,199 starting price. iPhone Ultra configurations with more storage could stretch to $3,000, according to the report.

    Delayed launch in China

In a post on Weibo today, leaker Instant Digital said the foldable iPhone will likely launch later in China than the rest of the world. This is primarily due to the device being eSIM-only, and eSIM adoption and infrastructure in China lag behind that of other countries.

The iPhone Air also launched later in China than elsewhere due to regulatory issues surrounding its eSIM-only design.

    More evidence of Touch ID

In a post on social media this week, developer Pdfu shared more evidence that the iPhone Ultra will use Touch ID instead of Face ID. This, of course, has been widely reported as one of the device’s limitations, so this is just another layer of corroboration.

    iPhone Ultra display crease

Apple set out to make a foldable iPhone without a visible crease, unlike other foldable phones on the market. In a report today, Bloomberg said the company has ultimately created a “crease that is far less visible than on currently shipping foldables.” To accomplish this, Apple developed an “advanced titanium-and-aluminum hinge system paired with custom cover glass.”

So even though it’s not completely creaseless, this is still something Apple “plans to highlight as a major competitive advantage.”

    MagSafe

One conflicting rumor has been whether the iPhone Ultra will feature support for MagSafe. Mark Gurman had good news on this front in a recent interview. “MagSafe is there. All indications that I’ve heard are that MagSafe is in for this foldable phone,” he said.
