There’s an annoying little iPhone notification glitch impacting some users on iOS 27. For those affected, the Settings app gets a red badge prompting an alert to ‘Activate iCloud Storage’.
However, tapping on this alert simply navigates to the iCloud storage purchase screen and the alert does not go away after dismissing it. This glitched notification appears even when the user has plenty of available iCloud storage already, like if they are on a 2 TB family Apple One plan.
While Apple sometimes does use the Settings app as a way to promote offers (like Apple TV trials) and remind users about AppleCare warranties, this particular notification appears to simply be a mistake rather than some underhand way to shove an iCloud upsell in front of customers.
The notification appears on devices running the release version of iOS 27 and iOS 27.2, and there is currently no obvious way to get the notification removed.
Some users have reported that signing out of their Apple Account on their device and logging back in causes the alert to go away. But hopefully Apple can also resolve this quickly with a backend change.
