Neb. (KSNB) – A Hastings pastor created a mobile app during Suicide Prevention Month that he says is already saving lives
The app, called “You Are Not Alone,” launched in May. Goff currently works with first responders who have dealt with traumatic situations. The app is now available to everyone.
The app allows users to preselect five trusted contacts. Those contacts are notified instantly if the user is in danger.
“It is for anyone with any crisis. The crisis covers the whole spectrum. It’s not just someone who is suicidal or has a mental breakdown. It is for every crisis,” Goff said.
Goff said the app is already helping people in and out of state.
“A young lady here in our community in Grand Island was able to use this app and got the help she needed, with the two contacts on her phone and she is doing well. She’s helping to promote the app,” Goff said.
The app is free. Goff is trying to make it accessible on all mobile devices. Those who would like to speak with Goff can contact him at the Hastings Police Department.
