Gmail has picked up plenty of new features over the years, but its settings page hasn’t changed much. That could finally be changing, as Google appears to be working on a redesigned layout for the Android app.
Android Authority spotted the new settings page in Gmail version 2026.10.05.993506826. The redesign isn’t available to users yet, but the publication managed to enable it through an APK teardown.

Currently, Gmail separates general settings from settings for individual accounts. Selecting an account opens a long list of options, making it harder to find specific controls. The new layout brings these options together on a single page and groups them into clearer categories.

For example, notification controls will appear under Email notifications, while other sections include Inbox customizations and Writing assistance. This should make finding specific settings less of a hassle.

There is a small change to account management, though. Instead of selecting an account directly from Settings, you’ll need to switch accounts using Gmail’s usual account switcher before opening the settings page.
Chat and Meet finally get their own sections
The redesign also gives Google Chat and Meet their own sections. Both services currently share space with other Gmail settings, but the new layout makes their controls easier to find. You can manage the integrations and their related settings from their respective sections.

Google hasn’t announced when the redesigned Gmail settings page will roll out. Since the feature was enabled through an APK teardown, the layout could still change before release. For now, it’s a look at what Google is working on rather than a feature you can try yourself.
