According to a new report, Samsung’s upcoming mid-range smartphone is getting a big battery upgrade that outdoes that company’s current $1,400 flagship.
GalaxyClub reports that the Samsung Galaxy A38 will ship with a 6,000 mAh battery. That’s a 20% jump over Samsung’s typical 5,000 mAh batteries that have been in Galaxy A series phones for the past few years, and is also a 20% jump from the company’s current flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Compared to the likes of many other Android phones on the international market, 6,000 mAh isn’t huge. Honor, for example, launched new phones with 10,000 mAh batteries just a couple of weeks ago. But in the context of Samsung, this is a welcome step forward. The company finally embraced silicon-carbon in its latest foldables and, while it’s unclear if that’s what we’re seeing here, it’s very obvious that Samsung is making a push to increase its battery capacity moving forward.
Based on the Galaxy A37’s launch date, the Galaxy A38 is likely to make its debut in early 2027.
Galaxy S27 is rumored to make some minor battery upgrades as well.
