Google has made it easy to back up photos and videos from an Android phone to a PC. As described in its Google System Services November 2026 release notes, users can now automatically back up photos and videos from an Android device to a Windows computer using Quick Share, Android’s version of AirDrop.
This should be a handy alternative to backing up images to Google Photos, which also saves your backups in a Google account. Each Google account provides 15GB of free storage, shared between Gmail and Google Drive, so it goes fast.
To use this new functionality, you’ll need Quick Share on Windows, the same Google Account logged in to both devices, and a shared Wi-Fi network. Reports nod to a daily camera roll backup option and a manual “Back up now” push, but Google hasn’t publicly confirmed those details, nor has it provided a list of eligible Android phones, if that’s a factor.
The feature will arrive gradually through Google Play system <a href="https://myappsplus.com/keeper-updates-iphone-duo-app-with-redesign-autofill/” title=”Keeper updates iPhone Duo app with redesign & autofill”>updates, so many users may not see the option immediately.
