Google says it will roll out a fix for Nest devices that were impacted by problems with Daylight Savings adjustments due to changes in Canada.
A number of Nest Hub and Nest Thermostat users on Reddit noticed this week that their devices were showing the wrong time following the Daylight Savings time change.
This isn’t just a display bug, with real impacts including late alarms, delayed or broken automations, and altered schedules, among other impacts. The problem is specific to certain parts of Canada, user reports show, as changes in the country left some provinces skipping Daylight Savings changes while others kept the status quo. Google previously issued guidance on how to handle these changes on Android phones.
On Nest devices, though, adjusting time zones isn’t quite as easy, so this was a bigger headache.
Google is working on a fix, though, the company confirmed to Android Authority. In a statement, Google says that it is aware of the problem and working to resolve it.
Google is aware of an issue affecting a small subset of devices in some provinces in Canada where daylight savings is no longer observed. We apologize for any inconvenience and are actively working on a fix.
Google also replied to some affected users to confirm a fix is coming but, as of November 4, the fix does not appear to be in place.
