Keeping up with the latest and greatest apps and games is a difficult task, but I’m here to help. Each month, I compile a list of the best new Android apps and games, and this month’s edition is packed with novel utilities and updated favorites.

Let’s jump right in. Here are the best new Android apps and games you should try in October 2026, and be sure to catch up on September’s roundup if you haven’t yet.

    Adobe Premiere

Get a taste of Adobe’s video editor on Android.

    • Price: Free / In-app purchases
    • Developer: Adobe

Adobe rolled out Premiere to iPhones nearly a year ago, giving Apple fans a taste of the video editing suite on mobile devices well before Android users. But now, at long last, Premiere is available on Google’s platform.

Premiere’s mobile experience focuses on shorter video formats, including YouTube Shorts, offers a host of speed and transition effects, and includes easy audio import into video clips. For more serious editing tasks, the app supports unlimited tracks, enabling a range of intricate editing techniques. And, since it’s an Adobe app in 2026, users can try out several AI features. While initially free, these features will require an Adobe account and a payment after the free credits expire.

The app does come with a few prerequisites: Android 13 or newer and at least 5GB of RAM. This will rule out several older mid-range phones from the get-go.

    SongFlip

A brilliant new app that solves an annoying music link-sharing problem.

    • Price: Free / In-app purchases
    • Developer: goork

SongFlip made me aware of a problem that I don’t run into daily, but thousands of others likely do.

To offer an example, if you predominantly use Spotify and your friend sends you a YouTube Music link, you’ll either have to open that link in a browser, download YouTube Music itself, or search for the song manually.

SongFlip automatically redirects that link to your preferred music service, making sharing music links borderless. In addition to the two aforementioned services, SongFlip also supports Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, and Amazon Music.

Setup is incredibly simple, involving only picking a preferred player and prompting Android to use SongFlip for select links.

The app is free, but a paid unlock enables a history feature, which might be useful for those accepting multiple links daily and need some degree of organization.

    Memoria

This offline gallery app uses AI to fuel its contextual search smarts.

    • Price: Free
    • Developer:raslenabb12

It’s understandable that consumers are growing tired of AI, especially when these features are shoved down our throats. However, Memoria highlights a use case for AI that I genuinely admire.

It’s a gallery app that uses Apple’s MobileCLIP-S0 model to power natural language search functionality. Memoria can also search for elements in photos by using another photo as a reference.

In practical terms, if you want to find all the photos in your camera roll that contain birds, you can simply search for “birds” or use an image of a bird as the seed image.

Unlike Google Photos, Memoria doesn’t need to upload any data to the cloud — everything is performed on the device using the downloaded model. This does mean the app weighs in at a rather hefty 250MB, but its privacy focus will undoubtedly appeal to many.

I’ve found it particularly useful for finding specific lines of text in screenshots.

    Rowtine

Crocheters and knitters out there — this app’s for you!

    • Price: Free
    • Developer: alxia0

As the partner of an avid crocheter, I’m well aware that keeping an accurate count of rows, patterns used, and the multitude of projects started can get very confusing and overwhelming. Rowtine hopes to be the solution to these issues, and then some.

Rowtine is a dashboard for knitters and crocheters that keeps tabs on practically everything surrounding yarn and needles.

Users can import PDF patterns they come across, keep track of current projects row by row, keep stock of yarn skeins asleep deep in the cupboard, and tally the overall cost of various items. It’s incredibly feature-dense and perhaps one of the prettiest apps I’ve come across in 2026. It’s a do-everything app for yarn crafters, but general app lovers can appreciate the niche problem it solves.

    Material Files

This iconic Android file manager just got its first update in years.

    • Price: Free
    • Developer: zhanghai

Material Files was once my go-to Android file manager app, but when it stopped receiving regular updates and there was no development plan in sight, I switched to Mixplorer instead. Now, there are signs of life; Mixplorer has received its first update in over two years.

While it’s not exactly a new Android app, Material Files’ latest update promises plenty of fixes and improvements, including support for Shizuku — a feature fans have been wanting for ages. This alone should offer a notable functionality boost, unlocking portions of the Android file system that were previously inaccessible to non-rooted users.

On the whole, though, Material Files walks the line between a powerful tool for experienced users and a surprisingly simple file manager for everyone else. Users can add storage beyond the phone itself, including network locations, manage archives, and access a breadcrumb menu to quickly navigate nested folders.

Welcome back to the Android file management game, Material Files!

    Radio Addict

A new Android radio app from the developer behind Podcast Addict.

    • Price: Free / In-app purchases
    • Developer: Xavier Guillemane

Finally, and what is essentially a bonus sixth app this week, Radio Addict is an internet radio streaming app from the creator of Podcast Addict — one of my favorite podcasting apps on Android.

Like many other radio streaming apps, Radio Addict supports country, city, and genre search and allows users to favorite stations for quick retrieval. The UI, while not strictly Material 3, is clean, modern, and foolproof.

What sets Radio Addict apart is its unique stats section on the home page, which breaks down listening trends, including overall listening time and streaks. It’s a novel feature baked into an app whose genre doesn’t leave much room for innovation.

Radio Addict is free to use but supported by ads. A monthly subscription fee is required to remove them.

That’s it for the October 2026 roundup of the best new Android apps and games! Have you stumbled across any new apps or titles that you think deserve inclusion? Would you like to suggest a game or app? Let me know down in the comments below.
