IFA 2026 is delivering a pretty wild new Android phone that’s not only rugged, but has a GoPro-like action camera built-in which can be detached and used for capturing footage on the fly.

The RugOne XSnap 7 Pro first appeared earlier this year, but is now making a splash with official pricing and release information at IFA. The device is landing on Kickstarter next week and will cost $999 when it arrives in the US in October – €1,099 in Europe.

This rugged device comes from Ulephone, a known brand for these ruggedized Android smartphones, with “RugOne” being a new sub-brand under the company. And, as per usual, it’s a chonky device with a 19.1mm profile, IP68/IP69K/MIL-STD-810H certifications, and no need for a case with its rugged, drop-resistant design. It has a 6.67-inch FHD+ display using Gorilla Glass Victus on top, runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chip with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and has a massive 9,300 mAh battery. It even has a 64MP night vision camera to back up its 50MP main sensor.

But the claim to fame here is a built-in, detachable action camera.

The camera attaches to the phone magnetically with a 133-degree field-of-view and 2.7K (1440p) recording. It can record for 40 minutes on its built-in battery and has 64GB of storage for up to eight hours of storage, but a built-in app on the phone can let the camera use the phone’s storage to offload that footage, and the phone also recharges the camera. The app can let you stream from the camera from up to 50 meters away and the action camera is waterproof up to 5 meters with no additional equipment.

It’s a wild idea, and one that actually seems more compelling than most of these rugged devices. A clear bit of utility, decent specs, and even a promise of software support – it XSnap 7 Pro ships with Android 16 and is promised updates through Android 20.
