As a full-time work-from-home employee, I’ve come to realize that a functional setup is very important. I’ve optimized my space with tiny, practical gadgets like cord wranglers to more expansive upgrades, like my favorite desktop charging mat and an under-desk treadmill.

After several years of working with starter desks, chairs, and other flagship office accessories, a recent move and a new diagnosis prompted me to totally upgrade my space — and I’d recommend splurging on this excellent desk and chair.
The desk
About two years ago, I added an inexpensive, adjustable standing desk to my workspace to make it easy to incorporate a walking pad (and more steps) during my day. When I moved to a new home, I was ready to commit to a more elevated adjustable desk in my refreshed home office space to balance traditional seated work with working while walking. I wanted something sleek that looked appealing, too. I didn’t want it to be obvious that it was an electric desk.
Eureka’s Ark SD was the perfect choice. It has a storage drawer and a wood-like tabletop that make my tiny office feel luxe. It also adjusts up or down with the touch of a button, so you can customize your WFH experience, whether you’re on your feet or in a chair. Plus, I’m five-foot-ten, and it goes plenty high, so this will work for taller folks, too. It’s an investment piece with a nearly $1,000 price tag, but for a fully WFH employee, I think it pays for itself daily.

This desk has been key in helping me maintain my step count and mitigate some new health challenges. It also looks like a stately desk, and Eureka also offers several other styles and sizes to accommodate personal tastes. I’ve had mine for almost two months now, and it’s been a functional upgrade over my much smaller adjustable desk, which had to be shifted manually. The chair
The FlexiSpot C7 Morpher chair was the most luxurious upgrade I could have imagined.
My former desk chair was a cheap one I got when my only concern was with my space looking “aesthetic.” The problem with it wasn’t the cheaper price tag, but that it was too short for me as a taller person, it offered virtually no back support, and it cut into my legs in a horribly uncomfortable way. A new desk chair was needed, and I wanted something comfortable enough to sit in on those days with back-to-back calls or when I needed to really focus for a few hours. It really does look like the chair of a rocket cockpit, and it is tremendously heavy. But it’s like sitting in a soft cloud. Several components are adjustable, like height, the arms, the footrest, and more. There’s also air support for your lumbar area, which has made a huge difference for me personally.
It’s quite expensive and only comes in black right now, but like the Ark SD desk, it’s one of those purchases that will have ROI for years to come. I do recommend using a chair mat, since it’s quite difficult to glide over carpet, but this chair was a much-needed upgrade that I would recommend to any WFH employee who wants serious support.

Why I recommend these products
People who work from home spend a lot of hours at their desk, and I think it’s worth it to make it comfortable and personal. Eureka’s Ark SD desk lets me walk and work, or adjust the tabletop to be the perfect height while seated.
Similarly, spending hours in a desk chair every week is much better when the chair offers support, personalized adjustments, and an ergonomic design that responds to your body’s pressure.
