The big announcement from 2-hour Opening Night Live at gamescom came in the form of the first proper trailer for the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past expansion, but CDPR also surprised everyone with the reveal of the The Witcher 3 Remastered. It is set to release as a FREE upgrade to those own the game already.
The Witcher 3 Remastered is a “free upgrade for existing The Witcher 3 owners on qualifying platforms.” It lands with a slew of upgrades “and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more.”

It is set for release on September 29, 2026.
The Remastered edition will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, but for the first time, a native version of the will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, and pre-orders are available now on the eShop.
There seems to be some confusion online regarding the Switch 2 digital and physical version, but developer CD Projekt Red has cleared the air here:
For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt owners looking to upgrade to the Remastered version for Nintendo Switch 2: if you own the game digitally, you can now pre-order the Remastered version for free on Nintendo eShop. If you own a physical copy, don’t worry – you’ll be able to claim the free upgrade when Remastered launches on September 29.
The Switch 2 edition supports the following features and accessories: “Touch Screen – Surround sound (linear PCM) These features are available on compatible TVs: – HDR output – 120 Hz output.”
