Tesla Model Y gets Halloween Mode in India with ghost-themed avatar, spooky light show and sound effects
Tesla’s new OTA software update brings a festive ghost-themed avatar, interactive lighting animations, Halloween sound effects, a photobooth experience and app-based voice messages to the Model Y and Model Y L.

Tesla has introduced Halloween Mode in India for the first time, bringing Halloween-themed software features to its Model Y and Model Y L electric SUVs. The update adds a ghost-themed in-app avatar, interactive lighting effects, spooky sound effects, a photobooth experience and app-based voice messages.
The new features are available through over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing Tesla owners to receive them without visiting a service centre. Customers can also experience Halloween Mode at Tesla Experience Centres across India.
Tesla Halloween Mode: New software features
The Halloween Mode update introduces several features focused on the vehicle’s digital interface, lighting and sounds.
The Ghost Costume feature transforms the car’s in-app avatar with a festive, ghostly design. Tesla has not specified whether the ghost-themed avatar also appears on the vehicle’s central touchscreen.
Trick or Treat Mode activates spooky sound effects and flickering lights as visitors approach the vehicle. The update also introduces a new Halloween-themed light show featuring a seasonal lighting sequence, exclusive wraps and an eerie lock sound.
The photobooth experience allows users to capture Halloween-themed photographs directly from their Model Y.
Another feature, Voice From Beyond, allows owners to speak through the Tesla app and have their vehicle deliver the message in its distinctive voice. The feature is designed for interactions with guests, neighbours and trick-or-treaters.
The update highlights Tesla’s use of software to introduce new experiences to its vehicles after purchase. The company says OTA updates deliver new features, improvements and performance enhancements without requiring a service centre visit.
Tesla Model Y ownership cost in India
Alongside the software update, Tesla is highlighting the ownership costs of the Model Y.
The company says the electric SUV’s monthly payment starts at Rs 39,990, with a down payment of Rs 6 lakh. Tesla estimates that owners can save Rs 20,000 per month on fuel and maintenance compared with an internal combustion engine vehicle.
Based on these estimates, Tesla puts the effective monthly ownership cost at Rs 19,990.
The indicative EMI is based on a seven-year loan tenure, an 8.5% annual interest rate and a step-up payment plan, subject to financier approval.
Tesla has extended its Switch & Save Carnival through Diwali. Customers can experience Halloween Mode at its Experience Centers in India and schedule test drives through its official website.
