While we’re still waiting on Samsung’s first Android XR glasses to arrive, an update on the first pair with a color display has found its way online, hinting at a launch sometime towards the end of next year.
The Elec reports that Samsung has requested new microdisplays for future smart glasses, offering a color display. “Performance and price” are still both under consideration as Samsung Display works to deliver the needed form factor, with “ultra-small panels” around 0.2-inches or less.
A monocular or binocular design is apparently undecided. Most initial prototypes that Google and Samsung have shown off have a monocular design, having just one display over a single eye, but a binocular design would have advantages such as being able to display 3D content.
Samsung’s first Android XR glasses will not have a display, instead delivering a form factor similar to Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses with just a <a href="https://myappsplus.com/this-might-be-iphone-18-pros-best-camera-feature-for-most-users/” title=”This might be iPhone 18 Pro’s best camera feature for most users”>camera and open-ear headphones. Designs from Warby Parker and Gentle Monster have both been shown off, but an exact launch timeline hasn’t been confirmed yet.
