The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G doesn’t always impress in our review. Find out which significant shortcomings, we identified for the Redmi Note 15’s (price starts around $340, available from Amazon.com) successor in our review.
When it comes to the battery and power supply, however, the Redmi Note 17 Pro is very competitive in the mid-range. The silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 8,340 mAh delivers absolutely outstanding battery life in our Wi-Fi test.
Xiaomi combines the huge battery capacity with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, which proves to be fairly energy-efficient, although it isn’t exactly a performance powerhouse in our review. Together with the 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, the Redmi Note 17 Pro uses less power on average than a Samsung Galaxy A57. However, compared with its predecessor, we still see potential for optimizing power consumption.
In our review, the Xiaomi smartphone delivers excellent battery life of over 29 hours. This should be enough for two days of normal use without charging. If you only use your Android phone occasionally, you can probably wait considerably longer before charging it. And even with intensive use, such as continuous GPS navigation, mobile data over 5G, and maximum screen brightness, the battery remains dependable. In our continuous-load batterytest, we get over 6 hours.
In addition to its sheer battery life, the silicon-carbon batteryalso proves highly resilient under extreme conditions. According to Xiaomi, the battery withstands extreme temperatures (-40 °C to 75 °C). The Redmi smartphone also features fast charging. Given its high battery capacity, it achieves good results in our review. You can find out how long it takes to charge the mid-range phone in our review.
