Razer’s new mobile game controller folds down to the size of a credit card

And it still comes with a full controller layout.

    • Razer has launched a new mobile game controller called the Razer Prio.
    • It’s sleek and folds down to the size of a credit card so it can easily be carried around.
    • It comes with a full controller layout, and Razer says it’s engineered to reduce joystick drift.

There’s no dearth of mobile game controllers on the market, including Razer’s own offerings. So why did the company launch yet another mobile controller? Well, because it addresses a couple of really important pain points that most mobile gamers associate with game controllers.

Razer showed off its new Prio mobile gaming controller in a YouTube video. At first glance, it might look relatively similar to most other controllers, but it’s not. For one, the Prio looks sleek when attached to a smartphone.

More importantly, however, the Razer Prio can be folded when not in use. That results in a tiny, nearly credit-card-sized controller that fits easily into most pants pockets. It also weighs 101 grams, making it perfect to carry anywhere. Most mobile game controllers are bulky (or at least not as portable as this), which makes them a hassle to carry around. The Prio could solve that issue for gamers everywhere.

The Razer Prio also comes with a full-sized controller layout, including recessed joysticks on the left and right sides, a D-pad, face buttons, shoulder buttons, and everything else you’d see on something like an Xbox controller. Razer says that its joysticks are engineered to reduce drift.

The Prio connects to smartphones over USB-C, which also means users don’t need to worry about charging the controller since it can draw power directly from the smartphone when in use. The controller supports both Android and iOS and also works with games streamed over Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and Razer PC Remote Play.

It could also prove useful for people looking to run emulated games on their Android phones. With a controller like the Razer Prio, users can play emulated games on their phones whenever they want without buying a dedicated Android gaming handheld for their favorite retro titles.

The Razer Prio is priced at $99.99 and is available to purchase from the official Razer website, as well as Amazon US and other retailers.
