Headsets have owned gaming audio for a decade. Sony just decided to challenge that. The PlayStation Pulse Elevate — Sony Interactive Entertainment’s first wireless desktop speakers — ships November 12, 2026, priced at $219.99. Pre-orders open September 1 via PlayStation Direct and participating retailers. For PS5 owners who’d rather hear the game than wear it, this is the first-party answer that’s been conspicuously missing from the lineup — and it’s the first time PlayStation has pushed its audio ecosystem beyond headsets and earbuds into desktop territory.

    Studio-Inspired Sound Meets PS5’s Ecosystem

Planar magnetic drivers and Tempest 3D Audio bring Sony’s spatial sound off the headset and onto your desk.

Planar magnetic drivers — the same technology found in audiophile headphones, known for fast transient response and low distortion — handle the heavy lifting here. Dedicated woofers provide low-end coverage across the full audible range. PlayStation Link, Sony’s lossless ultra-low-latency wireless standard used across the Pulse Elite and Explore accessories, manages the PS5 connection. Tempest 3D AudioTech, the spatial audio engine built into PS5, works natively with the speakers. The PlayStation Blog describes the result as sound reproduced “exactly how the developers intended” — though that claim belongs entirely to Sony until independent reviewers get their hands on a pair.

    • Planar magnetic drivers plus woofers for full-range audio
    • PlayStation Link (lossless, low-latency) with included USB-C adaptor
    • Tempest 3D AudioTech support on PS5
    • Built-in mic with AI-powered noise suppression
    • Charging docks included; portable battery mode available (exact duration not disclosed)

Connectivity covers PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, Mac, and Bluetooth multipoint — so game audioe tilt-back design and included charging docks keep cable clutter minimal. EQ and presets adjust through PS5 or PC software, which lowers friction compared to relying on hardware buttons alone

$220 Buys Premium Positioning – and Some Open Questions

The price clears most mainstream PC speaker sets, and the full spec sheet still hasn’t arrived.

At $219.99, Pulse Elevate sits at the top of Sony’s own Pulse lineup — above the $200 Pulse Explore earbuds and the $150 Pulse Elite headset. Sony has not disclosed wattage, driver dimensions, or exact battery life; the current guidance is a vague “hours” of portable playback. White colorway availability is limited regionally and listed as while supplies last in some markets, so Midnight Black is the safer global bet.

No independent reviews exist yet. Every performance claim comes from Sony.

If you’re a PS5 owner who’s been duct-taping together a speaker solution from generic PC audio gear, November 12 gives you a first-party option built around the platform you’re already on. Whether it earns that price tag is a question for launch day.
