Oppo Find X10 Pro Max review: A camera-focused flagship

Oppo Find X10 Pro Max review: A camera-focused flagship

At nearly Rs 2 lakh, the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max has little room for compromise. It arrives with some ambitious specifications, including three 200MP rear cameras, a 144Hz AMOLED display and MediaTek’s latest flagship chipset.Oppo appears to be betting big on cameras and performance this year. But is that enough to make the Find X10 Pro Max stand out in India’s ultra-premium smartphone market? Let’s find out.

    Design

The Oppo Find X10 Pro Max carries forward much of the design language of its predecessor, the Find X9 Pro, but there are a few changes that help it stand out. The biggest one is the additional aluminium camera island, which Oppo calls the Lumo Camera Island. It houses the True Color Camera and the LED flash. The main camera module has a distinctive look, with subtle knurling and an orange accent inspired by Hasselblad’s camera designs. The flat aluminium frame, slightly curved along the edges for a better grip, adds to the phone’s premium feel. The matte glass back also looks elegant, although it can be a little slippery to hold.We received the Luna White colour variant for review. It has a subtle striped pattern beneath the glass, along with Oppo and Hasselblad branding. The pattern does not affect the feel of the back panel, which remains smooth to the touch. International buyers can also choose Titanium Grey, while the Orange variant is limited to China. The front and back panels use Oppo’s Crystal Guard Glass, developed in collaboration with Corning. The phone also comes with IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, offering protection against dust, immersion and high-pressure water jets. The button placement is familiar. The power button and volume rocker sit on the right, while the left side houses a customisable Snap Key. However, Oppo has removed the dedicated camera button found on the Find X9 Pro. This is a noticeable omission for a phone that puts so much focus on photography.

    Oppo Find X10 Pro Max

The phone also features an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, which worked reliably in our experience. It supports Splash Touch, allowing the scanner to work even when the display has water droplets on it.Overall, the Find X10 Pro Max feels like a well-built flagship. Its camera hardware is housed in a more refined design, while the flat frame and matte glass finish give it a premium appearance. However, its slippery back means using the bundled case may be a good idea.

    Display

Oppo Find X10 Pro Max features a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,272 x 2,772 pixels. While the screen size and resolution remain similar to the Find X9 Pro, Oppo has increased the refresh rate from 120Hz to 144Hz. The display supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid, which makes it suitable for watching supported content on streaming platforms. Another noticeable design detail is its slim bezels, which measure just 1.15mm and give the front of the phone a more immersive look. The LTPO panel can adjust its refresh rate between 1Hz and 144Hz, depending on what is being displayed. However, most apps use a range of up to 120Hz, while the full 144Hz refresh rate is available in select games, including Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The higher refresh rate makes supported games and scrolling feel smoother. The screen can also lower its refresh rate when displaying static content or match the frame rate of videos to save power.Oppo has also increased the display’s PWM dimming frequency to 3,840Hz, which is designed to make the screen more comfortable for users sensitive to display flicker. Overall, the Find X10 Pro Max offers a sharp, bright and smooth display that suits its premium positioning.

    Performance

Oppo Find X10 Pro Max is powered by MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, paired with up to 16GB RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. On paper, this is a powerful hardware combination, and in everyday use, the phone feels well-equipped to handle demanding tasks. We used the phone for everyday activities such as browsing, switching between apps, watching videos and multitasking. The overall experience felt smooth, with apps opening quickly and transitions remaining fluid. Moving between multiple apps did not feel like a struggle, while the large RAM capacity should also be useful for users who frequently keep several apps running in the background. On the software front, the Find X10 Pro Max runs <a href="https://myappsplus.com/5-of-the-best-new-android-apps-you-need-to-try-this-november/” title=”5 of the best new Android apps you need to try this November”>Android 17 with Oppo’s new ColorOS 17. One of the biggest changes is the updated Living Flow design, which brings translucent elements, smoother animations and visual effects. The interface has a noticeable resemblance to Apple’s Liquid Glass design, particularly in the quick settings panel, lock screen and app drawer. We also liked the customisation options available on the lock screen, including different clock styles and widgets. The transitions between the always-on display, lock screen and home screen feel smooth, adding to the overall experience. AI is another major focus of the new software. Oppo has introduced an AI Agent that brings together models from Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT and connects them with AI Mind Space, a feature that lets users save notes, screenshots, text and other information in one place. The AI Agent can use this saved information to provide answers, summaries and suggestions. It can also help organise photos and files, rename items in batches and gather information to create travel plans and invitations.Oppo promises five major Android OS updates and six years of security patches for the Find X10 Pro Max. This is reassuring for buyers spending close to Rs 2 lakh on a smartphone, as it offers a longer software support window.

    Camera

The camera setup is perhaps the biggest highlight of the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max. It is the first smartphone to feature three 200MP rear cameras, giving users a high-resolution sensor for regular photos, zoom shots and wide-angle pictures. The setup also includes a dedicated True Color Camera to help capture more accurate colours. The 200MP primary camera is designed to handle everyday photography, from landscapes and buildings to people and close-up subjects. In regular use, the camera delivers pleasing colours, with a slightly warm tone and good saturation. We also liked how it handles bright and dark areas in the same frame, retaining details in highlights and shadows.Skin tones look natural, exposures are well handled and the camera captures enough detail for portraits and everyday photos. The portrait mode also creates a convincing background blur, helping subjects stand out. However, the default high-resolution output is not always as sharp as we would expect from a 200MP camera. Fine details such as grass, leaves and small text can sometimes appear a little soft. The lower-resolution standard mode can actually produce more naturally defined details. So, having a 200MP sensor does not automatically mean every picture will look sharper. The 200MP telephoto camera offers 3x optical zoom and is particularly useful when we want to photograph subjects from a distance without moving closer. It captures plenty of detail, while colours and exposure remain consistent with the main camera. We particularly like its portrait photography capabilities. Faces look detailed, skin tones are pleasing and the background blur gives portraits a more professional appearance. The camera also handles 6x zoom well in daylight, making it useful for capturing distant subjects, although some detail is naturally lost compared with 3x shots. In low-light conditions, the 3x camera continues to deliver good results, with balanced colours and contrast. However, pictures at 6x can lose some sharpness when there is not enough light. The ultra-wide camera has a 13mm lens, making it useful for landscape photography, architecture, group pictures and situations where we want to fit more into the frame.Unlike many smartphones where the ultra-wide camera feels like a secondary option, the Find X10 Pro Max offers a capable 200MP sensor here. Images have good detail, pleasing colours and a wide dynamic range in daylight. We also found its low-light performance impressive, with pictures retaining good detail and colour.50MP selfie camera: Wider selfies without losing detailThe front camera gets a 50MP sensor with an 18mm lens, offering a wider field of view than the previous generation. This is useful when taking group selfies or trying to include more of the background in a picture. Selfies have good detail, natural-looking skin tones and balanced colours. The wider view also makes it easier to fit more people into the frame without having to stretch your arm too far. The camera supports autofocus, while video recording goes up to 4K at 60fps.

    Battery

Oppo Find X10 Pro Max packs an 8,000mAh battery in its global variant, up from the 7,500mAh unit on its predecessor. This is a sizeable battery, and it makes the phone a good option for users who spend long hours watching videos, browsing social media, playing games or switching between multiple apps.In everyday use, we found the large battery reassuring. We could go through a regular day of calls, messages, browsing, video streaming and photography without constantly worrying about finding a charger. Even with heavier usage, the phone offers the kind of battery capacity that makes frequent top-ups less of a concern. For charging, the Find X10 Pro Max supports 80W wired SuperVOOC charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging. It also supports 55W USB Power Delivery charging, along with 10W reverse wireless charging. The wired charging speed is useful when we need to top up the phone before heading out, while wireless charging adds convenience at home or on a desk.Overall, battery life is one of the Find X10 Pro Max’s strong points. The large 8,000mAh battery gives us the confidence to use the phone throughout the day, although its charging speeds could have been better.

    Verdict

Oppo Find X10 Pro Max gets several important things right. Its triple 200MP camera setup offers plenty of flexibility, with all three rear cameras delivering capable results across different shooting conditions. The 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display is sharp and smooth, performance feels reliable in everyday use, and the large 8,000mAh battery makes it easier to get through the day without worrying about frequent charging. However, the phone is not without its compromises. The main camera’s high-resolution mode does not always deliver the fine detail we would expect, the back panel can feel slippery, and the charging speeds could have been faster. The 144Hz refresh rate is also limited to select games, so most users may not notice its full benefit during everyday use. At a price of Rs 1,99,999, the Find X10 Pro Max is clearly meant for buyers who want a premium smartphone without compromising much on hardware. If photography and an all-round flagship experience are high on your priority list and price is not a concern, the Find X10 Pro Max has plenty to offer.
