Here’s what reviews say.
Small Prophets reviews call it a ‘masterpiece’ for Apple TV
Apple TV has been on a roll with comedies this year, including new seasons of Shrinking, Ted Lasso, and Trying, plus the breakout original hit Widow’s Bay—which won big at the Emmy’s.
Now its latest comedy series, Small Prophets, looks set to keep the hot streak going.
Small Prophets premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT, and reviews are effusive.
We already knew Small Prophets was beloved because it’s the rare Apple series that’s licensed by the streamer. The show hit UK airwaves earlier this year, but now Apple is bringing it to viewers around the globe.
A fresh wave of reviews confirms that Small Prophets is something special. The show has maintained a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. Here’s what The Hollywood Reporter said:
I would…argue that Small Prophets may be the finest show to hit Apple this year, though that superlative would also probably depend on your feelings about Widow’s Bay.
The Verge’s review echoes the praise:
It’s a low-key show, but one that is also extremely strong in basically every regard, with an excellent supporting cast, just the right amount of mystery, and the perfect mix of sweet and silly tones. The goofy and heartwarming nature of Small Prophets also makes it a particularly good fit for Apple TV, since there’s nothing else quite like it on the service.
Elsewhere, reviews call it a “gentle, jewel-like, unhurried masterpiece,” with one critic adding, “The dovetailing of story arcs is genius.”
All this to say, if you need another great comedy to watch after tonight’s Ted Lasso season 4 finale
