After a group calling itself “CyberLeek” spent weeks dripping unfinished footage across the internet, Rockstar had seen enough. Their answer: a 26-minute gameplay showcase that premiered on Netflix on August 27, then landed on Rockstar’s YouTube channel six hours later. This wasn’t a trailer — no cinematic smoke, no carefully disguised in-engine trickery. Every frame is confirmed actual PS5 gameplay. Audiences finally have a concrete sense of what playing GTA VI looks and feels like, and the footage mostly delivers.

    Two Protagonists, One Chaos Machine

Jason and Lucia aren’t a hero and a sidekick — they’re both the lead, and the missions are built around that dynamic.

The scene that settles it: Jason hanging out of a moving car window, firing at pursuing police while Lucia drives. Then it flips — Lucia behind the wheel, Jason handling the shooting. Later, a building security mission splits them across floors entirely. Jason runs cover-based combat upstairs while Lucia threads a stealth route below, complete with on-screen button prompts during a physical struggle with an enemy. Context-sensitive, dynamic, and clearly designed around role-swapping rather than escorting a passive companion through corridors.

Beyond the story missions, the Extended Look confirms a spread of activities:

    • Weapon wheel interface for loadout management mid-action
    • Boat driving across Leonida’s waterways
    • Basketball minigames
    • Underwater diving, presumably tied to exploration
    • Parachuting and structured track racing

Visually, this is the leap fans hoped for. Indoor spaces are dense with clutter and object detail. Outdoor scenes carry atmospheric foliage and lighting that makes GTA V look like a distant memory by comparison. Reflections, character model fidelity, the seamless bleed between cutscene and player control — it’s the kind of technical jump that actually justifies current-gen hardware, like finally watching a film in 4K after years of HD insisting it was perfectly fine.

The Part That’s Going to Sting

The “physical” box contains a download code — and according to multiple reports, that’s not changing at or after launch.

No disc in either version. According to BBC reporting, “physical copies of the game will contain a code for a digital download rather than a disc,” with additional industry reporting indicating no plans to print discs at launch or afterward. Preloading opens November 12. The game drops November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If your broadband is unreliable or your SSD is already under pressure, start planning storage and download time now — this will be a large install.

Paying a premium price for non-tangible media, with no resale option and no lending, is a tension worth sitting with before hitting pre-order.

GTA VI is one of the highest-profile AAA titles to go fully disc-free at launch — and if it sells the way the industry expects, other publishers will take careful note of how consumers respond.

The gameplay looks like everything GTA fans spent a decade hoping for. The format and the price are the parts worth arguing about before your money leaves your wallet.
