iOS 27.2’s Shortcuts app adds key iPhone Duo automation, plus improvements to several other features
iPhone Duo launched with iOS 27.1 last week, but just days later iOS 27.2 arrived with a pair of compelling new Duo features.
But it turns out that iOS 27.2 also introduced a key iPhone Duo automation in Shortcuts that’s proven popular.
The ability to automate actions based on whether your iPhone is opened or closed arrived in iOS 27.2, per Apple’s release notes for the Shortcuts app. And that’s not the only change.
Here are the full release notes detailing every Shortcuts improvement in iOS 27.2:
- Workout (“When I start a workout”) adds support for the Fitness app (iOS, iPadOS, watchOS)
- App (“When Weather is opened or closed”) can now provide the name of the app that was closed (iOS, iPadOS, macOS)
- “Use Model” can now get up-to-date information using the web in additional languages
- Window layout can now be configured using the “Show Actions” and “Show Describe a Shortcut” menu items (macOS)
- Shortcut names and icons can now be edited directly from the library (iOS and iPadOS)
The additional languages supported by “Use Model” include French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Previously the feature was limited to English.
