Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact.
In this day and age, gas prices fluctuate quite a lot. If you want to have a better idea of how things are flowing, GasPulse is a great tool – giving you trends, historical prices, and an outlook to follow on your iPhone.
Top features
Using the weekly averages published by the Energy Information Administration, GasPulse shows you prices for each state or region. It’s not an app that’ll show you the cheapest gas station, but it shows you the trends with charts and a nice interface. It also has up to five years of historical prices.
Beyond that, it also offers an Outlook feature that gives you an idea of what to expect in the future. These are estimates, but it gives you a little bit of insight on whether or not things will go up or down. GasPulse also offers state-by-state comparisons, allowing you to see how things compare around you.
If you want price alerts, GasPulse also offers them for free for up to 6 areas, though it relies on iOS background refresh.
Lastly, GasPulse offers home screen and lock screen widgets, allowing you to keep an eye on things without opening the app. There’s also Siri support.
GasPulse is available for free on the App Store for iPhone users running iOS 18 and later. There’s no requirement for a subscription, and it’s ad-free.
