Google is pushing the third beta of its Android 17 QPR3 release to all the supported Pixel smartphones. The Android 17 QPR3 Beta 3 update fixes a host of bugs while also bringing back App Lock functionality that was removed during QPR2 Beta testing.
Android 17 QPR3 Beta 3 Brings Back App Lock
As noted by Android Community Manager Mishaal Rahman, Android 17 QPR3 Beta 3 revives the native app lock feature. For those unaware, Google removed it in the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 update, citing that it lacked polish and better integration.

The feature allows users to secure individual apps using their primary device credentials. The lock screen UI blur effect has also made a comeback, adding a frosted aesthetic behind notifications and the fingerprint sensor.
Additionally, the update introduces a few fresh UI tweaks. Users can now launch applications into floating bubbles directly from the Recents menu. This is great news for those using third-party launchers who previously couldn’t use the bubble anything feature.
Besides, the Quick Settings panel is gaining a dedicated Camera tile, and lock screen alarms now explicitly display AM or PM identifiers.
Beyond the feature drops, Beta 3 fixes a slew of 26known bugs. From inner display glitches on foldables to fixing WPA-Enterprise Wi-Fi authentication failures, the update also addresses an issue that caused the Twitter app to crash when viewing mentions.
Lastly, it also eliminates a persistent bug that caused blank UI buttons in dark mode and random lock screen crashes. For users currently enrolled in the Android Beta program, the Pixel 6a through Pixel 10 will receive firmware build DP11.261016.003.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 11 lineup will receive build DP11.261016.004. On our Pixel 11 Pro XL, the update was 3.92 GB in size.
