Enterprise work management is entering a new phase as artificial intelligence agents move beyond assisting employees to executing business processes.

Platforms once designed to organize projects and track assignments are becoming environments where people and autonomous agents collaborate, raising questions about application development, productivity and governance. That transition is a central theme of monday.com’s Elevate conference, taking place Oct. 28–29 at the Javits Center in New York City. The event brings together business leaders, developers and technology professionals to examine how AI is changing enterprise operations. SiliconANGLE and theCUBE will provide exclusive interviews and analysis, with special coverage airing Oct. 29. (* Disclosure below.)

“Monday.com Elevate signals a broader shift in application development: from building software that helps people manage work to building AI-powered applications and agents that execute work,” said Paul Nashawaty, principal analyst at theCUBE Research. “For AppDev leaders, the promise of AI-assisted app creation is compelling, particularly as business teams seek to build tailored solutions faster and reduce their dependence on constrained engineering resources.”

The opportunity is substantial, but so are the challenges of deploying autonomous systems within established enterprise environments. As monday.com expands its AI capabilities, theCUBE will examine whether organizations can translate faster application development into measurable business outcomes while maintaining oversight of increasingly independent agents.

AI-powered application development moves beyond traditional work management

The growing use of AI agents is changing expectations for enterprise work management software. Rather than simply coordinating assignments, these platforms are beginning to execute the work itself, automating processes and giving employees new ways to create applications without extensive coding expertise.

The shift is already evident in enterprise software development, where AI adoption has accelerated significantly.

“The momentum behind events like Elevate is unmistakable. According to theCUBE Research, 92% of organizations now report AI capabilities integrated into at least one stage of their software delivery lifecycle, up sharply from 71% in early 2024,” said Sam Weston, analyst at theCUBE Research.

The company’s monday AI ecosystem brings together several capabilities intended to support that shift. Agent Factory allows organizations to create specialized AI agents, while monday sidekick provides contextual assistance within the workspace. Meanwhile, monday vibe enables users to build custom business applications through natural-language prompts, reducing the technical expertise traditionally required for software development.

These capabilities could help businesses address application backlogs and automate processes that span departments. Sales teams, for example, could use agents to qualify leads and update records, while service organizations could automate ticket routing and resolution. The broader opportunity is to connect these activities within a shared operational environment.

The Elevate 2026 agenda includes hands-on sessions focused on building AI agents, creating applications with vibe coding and integrating automation into enterprise workflows. The emphasis on practical implementation reflects a growing industry challenge: moving beyond experimental AI applications to systems that deliver consistent results.

The anticipated expansion of autonomous agents adds urgency to these efforts, particularly as enterprises consider how human employees and AI systems will share responsibility for business processes.

“With 79% of organizations anticipating widespread AI agent adoption within three years, Elevate26’s focus on building with AI agents and human-agent collaboration arrives at a pivotal moment for enterprise leaders,” Weston said.

The real test, however, is whether organizations can move beyond rapid prototyping to production-grade applications with measurable business value, maintainability and enterprise controls

“Elevate’s significance will ultimately be determined not by how quickly an app can be generated, but by how reliably it can be deployed, governed and scaled,” he said.

AI agent governance becomes essential as autonomous workflows expand

Giving AI agents greater responsibility across business applications also introduces new security and governance challenges. Agents that can access sensitive information, modify records or initiate transactions require clearly defined permissions and oversight mechanisms, particularly when their activities cross organizational boundaries.

For enterprises adopting AI-powered work management, the challenge extends beyond protecting individual applications. Organizations must establish how agents authenticate, what information they can access and which activities require human approval.

“The security question gets more difficult as AI agents move deeper into enterprise workflows. An agent may be acting on behalf of a person, but its access can span applications, data and business processes. Enterprises need a clear way to establish whose authority the agent is operating under, what it is allowed to do, and when a human needs to get involved,” said Krista Case, principal analyst and practice lead of cybersecurity and cyber resilience at theCUBE Research.

These considerations become particularly important as business users gain the ability to create applications and automated workflows independently. Faster development can reduce pressure on IT teams, but it can also introduce inconsistencies in security policies, access controls and operational accountability if organizations lack centralized governance.

The Elevate agenda addresses these concerns through sessions dedicated to AI governance and guardrails, offering a broader discussion about what enterprises need to consider before expanding agent deployments.

“Platforms such as monday.com are becoming places where people and AI agents coordinate work together,” Case added. “That puts governance directly in the flow of work. Companies need visibility into what agents are doing, controls around the data and actions available to them, and an audit trail that lets teams understand how work moved from a request to an outcome.”

For monday.com and its enterprise customers, the next stage of AI adoption will depend on balancing easier application creation with the security and governance requirements of production environments. TheCUBE’s coverage will examine how that balance shapes the company’s platform strategy and what it means for organizations preparing to give AI agents a more active role in everyday business operations.
