Just after the reveal of its new Cherry ChocolateQuietComfort Ultra Headphones to match your Burgundy iPhone 18 Pro, today Bose is unveiling its all-new next generation open buds – Sport Open Earbuds and the second-gen Ultra Open Earbuds.

Bose has been a relatively dominant force in the open buds era, first with earlier open-audio concepts like SoundWear and then with the original Ultra Open Earbuds many would consider to be among the best in the business.

Today the brand is expanding upon that foundation with the reveal of “two distinct models designed for active pursuits and everyday life.”

At the heart of both new earbuds is Bose Open Audio technology, engineered to deliver rich, personal sound from a completely open design. This feat of engineering combines a transducer with a tightly controlled acoustic structure to precisely deliver clear sound to your ear with minimal sound leakage. Powerful Bose Sound Design digital signal processing brings it all together, balancing clarity and deep bass so you can hear and feel your music without closing out the world around you.

Both models also feature Bose Speech Clarity – a proprietary AI-enahnced voice-isolation tech with a pair of mics working together to isolate your voice from background noise to deliver Bose’s best call-quality experience to its line of open-ear wearables.

Bose describes the new Sport Open Earbuds as “an entirely new line of earbuds purpose-built for active use.” The specifically designed to support  running, workouts and outdoor activities with a cuff-style fit with soft silicone construction, IP54 sweat, splash and dust resistance. The deliver 7 hours of battery life and an additional 22 hours with the wireless charging case.

The new Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) feature a similar fit and look as the original set, but with improved sound and call quality and Cinema Mode with Bose True Spatial technology:

Designed to bring video content and podcasts to life, it creates a wider, more immersive soundstage while keeping dialogue sharp, clear, and precisely centered. The result is a theater-like listening experience that works with any content source.

Battery life has jumped up to 9 hours of playback with additional 19.5 hours stored in the wireless charing case.

The new Bose Sport Open Earbuds will carry a $199 list price and the new Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) come in at the same $299. Pre-orders begin on September 19 ahead of the October 1 release date.

Bose also mentioned a planned firmware update for sometime after the October 1 release date with a slate of new features for both sets:

Google Find Hub, Alexa+, and shortcut support for Apple Music. Google Find Hub helps you locate the earbuds if they’re misplaced, built-in Alexa+ makes it easier to get hands-free help for tasks like making a restaurant reservations or asking for music recommendations, and shortcut access to Apple Music instantly jumps you bac k into your favorite playlist.
