One of the most significant changes in iOS 27.2 involves App Tracking Transparency (ATT), the privacy framework Apple introduced to require apps to obtain user permission before tracking activity across other companies’ apps and websites. According to the latest beta release notes, ATT will now support an expanded consent screen for users in the European Union, and apps will be able to request permission again on an annual basis.

The ATT adjustments follow a years-long antitrust investigation by German competition authorities, including the Federal Cartel Office, as Regulators had argued that ATT gave Apple an unfair advantage over third-party developers, because Apple’s own apps were not required to display the same consent prompts when using data within the company’s ecosystem. The revised framework appears designed to address those concerns by creating a more uniform consent experience

The Bundeskartellamt closed that case on August 17, 2026 by declaring Apple’s commitments legally binding, under Section 19a of the German Competition Act and Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. In practice, Apple has undertaken to align the consent requests shown for third-party apps more closely with those it uses for its own advertising, and to give third-party publishers more freedom to combine the permissions they need into fewer prompts. Competition authorities in other EU member states have run parallel proceedings on the same framework, some of which are already concluded, so the German outcome is likely to shape how it is treated across the bloc.

Beyond privacy changes, iOS 27.2 brings a redesigned Health app with Apple Intelligence features, though that component is expected to be pulled from the shipping version and reintroduced in iOS 27.3 later this year. Apple had previously stated that Siri AI “will expand to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish next month,” and that language rollout is bundled with iOS 27.2.
