    Key takeaways

    • Teleperformance shares plunge amid accelerating AI <a href="https://myappsplus.com/verizon-vz-stock-may-be-31-below-fair-value-despite-ai-network-automation/” title=”Verizon (VZ) Stock May Be 31% Below Fair Value Despite AI Network Automation”>automation
    • Content moderation weakness forces major revenue forecast cut
    • Other business lines grow despite outsourcing disruption

Teleperformance shares plunged more than 15% on November 6 after the French outsourcing giant warned that artificial intelligence and changing customer requirements were undermining demand for its content moderation services.

According to Teleperformance’s November 5 earnings announcement, the company lowered its 2026 comparable revenue outlook from flat to 2% growth to a decline of 1.5%–2.5%.

The stock fell as much as 21.3% intraday before recovering part of its losses. The selloff highlights growing concerns that automation could undermine traditional outsourcing businesses faster than companies can replace lost revenue.

Teleperformance Cuts Revenue Forecast as AI Replaces Moderation Work

Teleperformance reported €2.532 billion in third-quarter revenue, up 1% on a reported basis but down 1.2% when adjusted for currency movements and other comparable factors.

The biggest weakness came from its Trust & Safety business, which provides content moderation for major digital platforms.

CEO Jorge Amar said the division faced increasing automation as large technology customers replaced basic moderation work with AI tools.

Revenue also suffered as customers moved operations to lower-cost countries, aided by improvements in real-time translation technology.

The combination forced management to reconsider its expectations for the remainder of 2026.

Interestingly, Teleperformance’s comparable revenue grew 2% when Trust & Safety was excluded, suggesting the company’s difficulties are concentrated rather than evenly distributed.

The results echo earlier concerns surrounding AI disruption of India’s outsourcing industry, where investors questioned whether automated software could replace traditional IT services.

Why AI Automation Is Reshaping Outsourcing Companies

Traditional outsourcing businesses generate revenue by providing employees and operational services to corporate clients.

AI changes those economics when customers automate repetitive tasks or reduce the number of human workers required to perform them.

For Teleperformance, the disruption is particularly visible in content moderation, where automated systems can increasingly classify or filter material before human review.

However, automation does not necessarily eliminate every human role.

Coinpaper previously examined how companies rehired workers after AI replacements fell short, demonstrating that customer service and complex decision-making can still require human involvement.

Other businesses are restructuring around the technology. HubSpot announced 660 job cuts while repositioning its products toward AI-supported customer outcomes.

Similarly, Barclays disclosed plans to eliminate 5,000 positions, with technology and support functions among those affected.

These developments show how companies are reassessing labor-intensive operating models, although not every workforce reduction can be attributed directly to AI.

Can Teleperformance Recover Through AI-Powered Services?

Teleperformance is attempting to adapt rather than rely entirely on its traditional outsourcing business.

The company reported approximately 1,400 AI projects at the end of September, more than double the previous year’s level.

Management maintained its recurring EBITA margin target near 14.6% and its net free cash flow forecast of €800 million–€850 million.

However, restructuring costs are expected to approach the upper end of the previously announced €120 million–€140 million range.

The transformation resembles broader efforts by companies such as Kroger to reorganize operations around automation.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s latest workforce reductions illustrate how major technology customers continue adjusting staffing while investing heavily in AI infrastructure.
