The public is invited to attend the Second Sunday Forum at the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos, starting at noon Sunday, November 8, at 1738 North Sage Street.

There has been an increase in interest around Universal Basic Income (UBI).  Support has grown, even among conservatives. This trend is something that would have been unheard of just a few years ago.  At the same time, adjacent alternatives, including Sovereign Wealth Funds and direct transfers of AI shares, have been discussed. This increase in interest has largely been driven by the AI automation debate.   We seem to be at a pivotal threshold in the dialog where significant progress could be made.

In this forum James Carroll will discuss the details of various proposals around “post labor economics,” including the basics of the economic theory behind them and how those theories might survive a future with increased or total labor automation. James will discuss how these proposals differ significantly from communism, Marxism or socialism.  James will also describe several experiments with UBI, and their results.

The public is invited to attend this forum. There will be a question and answer period following the formal presentation.  The Second Sunday Forum program endeavors to educate the public about issues that affect the community and to provide opportunities for exploration.  The Forum is independent of the religious mission of the church.
