TL;DR
- Sonos has released a new version of the Sonos app with several new features.
- It introduces Presets to start playing music in a selected room at a specific volume with just a tap.
- It also introduces a new System Health feature to quickly identify and resolve issues with speaker setups.
Since it first rolled out a redesigned Sonos app, Sonos has steadily updated it with new features, compatibility upgrades, and reliability fixes. Today, the company is rolling out an update with several new features.
Sonos has announced a new version of the Sonos app, bumping it up to v91 on both Android and iOS devices. The update introduces several new features, including a new System Health tool on iPhone that should prove useful.
System Health gives users an overview of their Sonos setup, including network information, connection type, number of products, and more. It also makes it easier to spot issues and fix them quickly without spending hours troubleshooting online. iPhone users can find System Health by opening the Sonos app and going to Settings > Help Center > System Health.
Meanwhile, Sonos has confirmed that System Health will arrive on Android in a future update. Hopefully, that will happen sooner rather than later.
The update also introduces Presets. You can use them to start playing pre-saved music in a selected room at a specific volume with a single tap. The app supports up to 50 presets, which should be plenty for most users. You can read more about creating, editing, and managing presets here.
You can now edit the “Featured” section in the Sonos app to rearrange saved content as you like. There is also a new “swipe to skip” gesture that lets you skip tracks simply by swiping on Now Playing or the mini player, and Android users can rearrange their list of connected services as well.
Sonos has reiterated that its upcoming Sonos 27voice service is still on track. The company will open Early Access to US customers in the Fall of 2026, with a global rollout expected once early access testing concludes. That’s likely to happen in 2027, but Sonos hasn’t confirmed it yet.
The Sonos app update is rolling out now on both Android and iOS. However, the company says it could take several days or weeks to reach your device. Android users can check for updates in the Play Store, while iOS users can check the App Store.
