Samsung is releasing a new foldable next week, and it just leaked

Samsung has a bunch of new foldables in store for next year, but also one more coming out this year, and it’s coming out in just a few days according to a new leak.

According to leaker Ice Universe, the device pictured below is the Galaxy W27, a new foldable that Samsung is set to release on October 29.

    What is it?

This is just the latest in a yearly tradition of Samsung releasing China-only variants of its Galaxy foldables. Each generation has arrived with some additional flair and usually some fancy packaging too, but the Galaxy W series is just a rebranded version of whatever Samsung’s top foldable is for the year. The one exception was 2024’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which saw a broader release and served as a stepping stone before Samsung’s major leap in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

For 2026, that’s the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is what the specs on this new foldable match. The design is certainly matching up, though with a glossy blue back and gold accents around the triple-camera array.

It’s not a surprise that Samsung is continuing on its usual trend with this device, but it is a bit surprising that it’s based on the Ultra and not the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, the one with the new shape that’s clearly resonating with customers. It’s not like wide foldables aren’t making headway in China either, as Xiaomi’s latest foldable has virtually the same form factor, and Huawei has been putting out wide foldables longer than anyone at this point.

What do you think of the style of the Galaxy W27? Would you choose it if Samsung released it globally?

    More on Samsung:

    • Samsung reiterates that Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a hit, and that iPhone Duo puts a spotlight on it
    • The wide folds are coming; foldable display shipments to increase by 44% in 2026, analysts say
    • Samsung has updated these Galaxy devices to Android 17
