The Dreame L60 Ultra PE is the type of robot vacuum I love to test: a multi-function device that sweeps, vacuums, and mops, and it does it all autonomously with very little fuss.
There’s not much new here to speak of; most high-end robot vacuums offer similar functions and features. However, the L60 Ultra PE is not a flagship model, so that makes it all the sweeter.
I tested the Dreame L60 Ultra PE for three weeks in my home, and after my time spent with it, I think this is a great pickup if you don’t want to spend crazy money on a very reliable, feature-packed robot vacuum.
More than just top-tier features

With a healthy upper-mid-range price point of $1,100, I’m happy to report that the Dreame L60 Ultra PE nevertheless has a spec sheet that rivals the best robot vacuums on the market today. With 30,000Pa of suction pressure, extending brushes, heated water systems, and more, the L60 Ultra PE is kitted out to handle all the basics of any premium robot vacuum.
The base station houses clean water and detergent, which it auto-mixes while cleaning the mop pads on the bot with heated water. It also houses the dirty water canister and a dry debris vacuum bag. The water canisters are sufficient to cover approximately 1,200 sq ft of floor mopping at a lower moisture setting. The vacuum bag is rated for up to 100 days of dust collection.
Setup is also really easy. The bot needed the mop pads popped on, and the base station only needed the ramp installed; otherwise, I just had to fill the detergent and water, and the L60 Ultra PE was good to go.
Initial mapping was also pleasingly speedy. The L60 Ultra PE uses cameras and LiDAR to scout out your space. It did take some time to clearly identify the step that leads down into my living room, but my ~400 sq ft of floor I want cleaned was mapped in about five minutes.
From the first clean until today, I haven’t had to rescue or correct the L60 Ultra PE once.
The L60 Ultra PE has been nearly perfect in terms of navigating my home. It does bump into odd-shaped furniture legs and similar oddities that are not normally in my space, and it has bunched up my soft bath mat, but it has never become stuck on anything. It has not fallen into my living room; it has learned the area and navigated flawlessly. This is the kind of thing that matters to me. I don’t care that other bots have better stats on paper; I care that I don’t have to spend any time fixing issues, it just works.
Autonomy for the win
The cleaning performance of the Dreame L60 Ultra PE has been great. The Dual Flex Arms effectively push both the sweeping brush and the right mopping pad right to the edges of the room and into corners. Nothing is missed. The vacuum has enough flex and more than enough suction power to pick up the pine needles and similar debris that frequents my home. The mopping system produces water temperatures up to 212°F (100 °C), effectively steam-cleaning the mop pads for ultimate sanitization.
The L60 Ultra PE’s default clean timings are perfect for my space. You can adjust the settings to empty the dry debris more or less often, and control both how wet the mop pads get and how often they are cleaned by the base station. Combined with an in-depth scheduling system in the app, the L60 Ultra PE has been a reliable “set it and forget it” experience.
Dreame’s tech can also identify particularly messy areas of your home and initiate a second pass there. This is done by analyzing the dirty water collected while the bot is being cleaned at the base station.
Speaking of smarts, the L60 Ultra PE features an Advanced Vision System that can identify over 220 common household items. This ensures the safety of your children and pets and ensures that the bot only attempts to clean your floors, not your child’s toys or your USB cables.
The L60 Ultra PE can also manage floor transitions up to 0.87 inches tall (or 1.57 inches for a double-layer step) and is designed for zero-tangle, with anti-tangle hair designs on the brush and vacuum rollers. Battery life, too, has been more than enough to clean my space. It gets through my ~400 sqft in about 50 minutes.
I’ve actually found the experience of living with the L60 Ultra PE to be far superior to that of the high-end Dreame X60 Max Ultra I tested earlier this year. I’ve seen no evidence of tangles, I’ve not had to rescue the bot from socks or flimsy rugs, I haven’t had to adjust any objects in the home that other bots tend to knock over, the dry storage bag is on track for months of use, and I rarely have to replace the water tanks.
Is the L60 Ultra PE perfect?
Despite its on-the-ground performance and hassle-free experience, the Dreame L60 Ultra PE does lack the finesse found in some high-end robot vacuums. For starters, it’s a bit louder than the best on the market. You really need to run side-by-side comparisons to hear the difference. The L60 Ultra PE is still much quieter than the average entry-level bot I’ve tested, but I would opt not to run this bot while I sleep.
In particular, when this bot encounters abnormal objects that the visual sensors do not detect perfectly, the physical bumper kicks in to protect both the bot and household items from damage. The sensors work well, the bot accurately backs off when it collides with an object, but it’s fairly noisy about it. The bot’s crash is much louder than the actual impacts would lead me to expect. The same goes when the bot navigates a floor transition: the rattling noise of the bot itself as it hops over an object would wake me from a nap.
This goes for the front sweeper brush as well. The bot often whips the brush against objects in a way that sounds like the main brush has sucked up something like a Lego or bobby pin. You get used to it, but those first couple of times, I thought I had to rescue the bot before damage was caused.
I will continue to applaud the navigational skills of this bot, but it tends to avoid objects to prevent entanglement. For example, it does not get caught up in my fluffy bath mats, but that’s because it chooses not to try to clean them. It did try in the beginning, but it recognized them as being a problem and has not gone back. It’s a similar story for the pad in front of my kitchen sink and more. I appreciate not having to rescue the bot, but those spots will need some additional coverage at some point.
Dreame L60 Ultra PE review verdict: Should you buy it?
The Dreame L60 Ultra PE has been a welcome surprise for me. It cleans the floors exactly as expected for a higher-end mid-tier robot vacuum, and the hands-off experience and reliability in my home are as good as the very best I’ve tested.
There are other models in the L60 family to consider if you want to save some money or take a step up. The entry L60 Ultra FE has some brush and navigation downgrades, but keeps the 212°F self-cleaning dock and Dual Flex Arms. Meanwhile, the L60 Ultra is a slimline vac with a retractable LiDAR turret, and the Dreame L60 Pro Ultra adds ProLeap legs that can climb over thresholds up to 3.47 inches high.
Compared to the competition, the Dreame L60 Ultra PE competes most directly with the Narwal Freo Z10 ($839.99 at Amazon). These two bots launched at a price of $1,099 and both offer extending brush arms, anti-tangle functions, great navigation, and plenty of hands-off autonomy. I think the much older Freo Z10 is still better at mopping, while the L60 Ultra PE has double the vacuum suction pressure and better threshold crossing capabilities.
The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow ($999.99 at Amazon) is another great alternative, though it takes a very different approach to mopping with a 270mm-wide roller that cleans itself in real time. The trade-off against the L60 Ultra PE is suction, as the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow caps at 20,000Pa. If spills and sticky messes on hard floors are your bigger concern, the Curv 2 Flow’s roller is worth a look, but if you want the most hands-off, carpet-capable all-rounder, the L60 Ultra PE is the safer bet.
If you want to save a bit more cash, the Narwal Freo Pro ($599 at Amazon) is older, has far less suction pressure at 8,500Pa compared to the 30,000Pa of the L60 Ultra PE, but it’s a reliable device for cleaning performance, navigation, and a maintenance-free lifestyle.
Overall, though, the Dreame L60 Ultra PE really delivers in terms of performance and does not demand your time. The overall cleaning capabilities and the reliable, hands-free operation make this bot a superb option for most homes. The 212°F dock and SmartDirt re-cleaning are also features you don’t always necessarily see at this price point. Plus, with an initial launch price of $1099.99, we are already seeing it sell for around $899 during sales, and that makes it a steal.
