Apple has just released iOS 27.0.1, a new iPhone software update with key bug fixes for issues introduced in iOS 27. Here’s what’s new.
iOS 27.0.1 fixes iPhone 18 Pro Face ID issue, plus includes additional bug fixes
iPhone users, Apple has just launched its latest software update. iOS 27.0.1 is now available to install
Here’s what Apple’s official release notes say:
This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone, including fixes for the following issues:
- iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may unexpectedly restart when Face ID fails to authenticate
- A color artifact may appear on photos captured at 2x under certain lighting conditions at f/1.48 on a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices
- Opening Notification Center and Control Center simultaneously may cause the touchscreen to become unresponsive
As 9to5Macpreviously reported, some iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max users experienced crashes when Face ID was unable to properly authenticate them. Apple promised a fix was coming this week, and now it has delivered
Out of the listed fixes in Apple’s release notes, only the Notification Center and Control Center issue applies to all iPhone models.
But Apple’s notes aren’t typically comprehensive of all changes, so older iPhones will likely benefit from other, unmentioned bug fixes in iOS 27.0.1 too.
iOS 27 launched two weeks ago as a major new iPhone software update. As happens most years around this time, the public release brought some bugs to the surface that Apple wasn’t able to discover during beta testing, so iOS 27.0.1 fixes some of those issues.
An update is available for iPad users today too: iPadOS 27.0.1. The release notes for iPadOS simply say: “This update provides bug fixes for your iPad.”
