In the era of RAMageddon, the price hikes just keep coming. Samsung has left its Galaxy S26 untouched thus far, but a new report suggest prices hikes of around $100 could be on the way.
The Galaxy S26 series launched in February with the base S26 and S26+ seeing slight price bumps from their predecessors, and the Ultra unchanged – $899, $1,099, and $1,299, respectively. But a lot has changed in the time since, and it seems Samsung may be bumping those prices further up.
Hans Economy reports that, at least in Korea, Galaxy S26 prices “will be abruptly raised starting October 1.” The planned price hikes (and their converted pricing in USD) follow:
- Galaxy S26: 1,254,000 won > 1,403,600 won ($930~ > $1,040)
- Galaxy S26+: 1,452,000 won > 1,601,600 won ($1,077~ > $1,188~)
- Galaxy S26 Ultra: 1,797,400 won > 1,947,000 won ($1,334~ > $1,444~)
Apparently, Samsung is making this move based on two factors; the continual rise of component costs, and the fact that Apple also just hiked its iPhone prices. The latest iPhone 18 Pro launches are more expensive while the iPhone 17 also saw a $100 price hike in the US (more on 9to5Mac), with the lineup now starting at $899 in the US and 1,450,000 won in South Korea.
With that comparison in mind, it’s harder to imagine Samsung plans to bring these price hikes to the US, as they’d make Galaxy flagships $100 more expensive than iPhones across the board, but anything’s possible.
Samsung, commenting on the report, says that “nothing has been finalized” yet (translated):
We have not sent out any official notice regarding a price increase for the Galaxy S26 series… While it is true that we are internally reviewing whether to adjust prices in consideration of cost burdens, such as the recent rise in component prices, nothing has been finalized as of now.
