    • Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantishas three difficulty-scaling options
    • Players can switch between hardcore, medium, and easy across combat, puzzles, and traversal
    • Flying Wild Hog creative director Michał Kuk says players can individually tweak each setting for a personalized experience

Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog have confirmed Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will feature difficulty-scaling levels, offering players a personalized experience.

During a Q&A attended by TechRadar Gaming, following an exclusive presentation at Gamescom, experience director Jeff Adams and Flying Wild Hog creative directorMichał Kuk discussed how the game was built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5 and the game’s modern features the developers were able to implement.

Legacy of Atlantis won’t be a simple remake or remaster of the classic 1996 game, but a “reimagining” for current-gen platforms, which means all-new upgrades and features that weren’t available in the original.

Among these are three difficulty levels across three core aspects of the game: combat, puzzles, and traversal; players will be able to individually scale each setting to their preference, giving them more control over their experience.

“With difficulty levels, we have prepared it in a way that I’m pretty sure everyone can set it for their own pleasure,” Kuk said.

He explained that players can, for example, set the puzzle difficulty to hardcore if they want something more familiar to the 1996 game, or switch combat to easy or medium, and traversal, personally, to medium.

“You can adjust the game basically however you want,” he added.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to release on February 27, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
