Plug-in (or balcony) solar tech has been booming in Europe for a while now, but it seems as though the rest of the world is slowly catching on: these kits are now legal in the UK, while an increasing number of US states are approving them too.

As of August 27th, plug-in solar has become legal across the UK. That means all households can benefit from greener energy without needing to spend a ridiculous amount of money on solar panels.

After proving popular across Europe, plug-in solar is now legally allowed in the UK. That means you can buy a solar panel for your balcony or shed roof, and plug it straight into the mains — no roof mounting or professional installation necessary, in theory at least.

Last week, I traveled to London to see some new products EcoFlow is releasing now that plug-in solar is set to become legal here in the UK. But what struck me was how I feel that pure plug-in solar has already been superseded by hybrid systems offering greater potential for savings.
