Although AirPods with cameras aren’t expected until next year, Bloomberg reports that Apple could announce the AirPods 5 as early as next month’s expected iPhone event. Here are the details.

AirPods 5 to feature regular and ANC variants

In a wide-ranging report published earlier tonight, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said Apple could announce a new Mac mini in the coming days, ahead of its expected September event.

Gurman also detailed several other products Apple has in the pipeline, including the AirPods 5, which could debut as early as next month. He says the company’s next event is expected to take place on September 9 and will also feature its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, and new Apple Watches.

The company is also preparing a range of new Apple Watches with minor changes, including upgrades to fitness tracking and a ceramic-case option for Series 12 models. And it’s planning to debut fresh AirPods as early as the September product launch event.

The rollout will include new AirPods 5, an update to Apple’s entry-level earbuds, the people said. That model was last refreshed in 2024. A camera-equipped version of the AirPods, meanwhile, isn’t expected until next year.

Interestingly, Gurman followed up on his own report with a post on X, adding that the AirPods 5 are expected to come in both regular and noise-cancellation variants:

While reporting on the AirPods 5 timeline has been scarce, the earbuds had generally been expected to arrive in 2027. Apple is also reportedly developing two camera-equipped AirPods models that will use Visual Intelligence and Siri for AI-powered features.

Apple recently mistakenly included a demo video of the camera-equipped AirPods in the macOS 26.7 release candidate, though the clip didn’t clearly show what was physically different about the device.
