This week, Apple will be overhauling the MacBook Pro for the first time since 2021. OLED, touch support, and a significantly lighter design are expected. Another rumor for the new MacBook Pros has been cellular support, though it’s been unclear if that’s actually going to ship.

An Australian owner reported that the iPhone Duo’s inner display cracked along the fold after fewer than 20 openings, roughly six hours into owning the device. That account, reproduced by MacRumors from an owner report, is the sharpest early data point in a growing pattern of hinge-area complaints.

Apple on Thursday released iOS 27.1, a software update available exclusively to owners of the iPhone Duo. The company said the update focuses on refinements specific to the Duo’s dual-display hardware and will not be offered for other iPhone models.

I spent Wednesday in New York, interviewing developers about their iPhone Duo apps. It was like a little slice of WWDC dropped among Manhattan’s skyscrapers, which was wonderful. There’s nothing I enjoy about what we do at MacStories more than talking to developers about their apps and the stories behind them.

Teardown site iFixit took apart the iPhone Duo to see what’s inside, how it holds up to dust, and how repairable it is. There’s a video walking through the teardown, as well as a blog post summing it up.

Earlier this month, a security researcher discovered that private cryptographic keys associated with eight of Indian company eMudhra’s intermediate certificate authority (CA) certificates were weak. The compromised keys could have allowed attackers to impersonate legitimate websites, potentially putting users’ sensitive information at risk. However, there is currently no evidence that the keys were exploited maliciously.

On iPhone Duo, Apple includes a display setting for cases or frames that partially cover the left edge of the outer display. It’s called Shift Left Edge, and it insets the display edge so that on-screen content isn’t hidden beneath the case.
