Sony Interactive Entertainment rolled out PS4system software <a href="https://myappsplus.com/galaxy-a15-4g-gets-one-ui-9-0-android-17-update/” title=”Galaxy A15 4G gets One UI 9.0 (Android 17) update”>update 14.02 out of nowhere this morning, and it brings some unwelcome “improvements” for the modding/jailbreaking community. As it continues to crack down on PS5 jailbreaks, Sony decided to patch some security exploits and vulnerabilities on the last-gen console, too.
PS4 system software update 14.02 patch notes (November 4, 2026)
“We’ve made some security fixes to the system software,” the official patch notes read, indicating that Sony isn’t willing to let those PS4 jailbreaks slide.
Despite its age, PS4 remains a massively popular console with a massive library of games. At the time of this writing, there have been no system updates for the PS Portal or the PS3. The latter might sound like a surprise mention, but for the uninitiated, Sony drops annual Blu-ray and security patches for the classic system.
Going back to the PS4, nearly all major publishers and franchises have dropped support for the console. However, the console is still getting new games — albeit few and far between and mostly in digital format — in 2026. So this patch shouldn’t surprise anyone.
We’ll update our readers if players notice any unannounced changes after today’s system software update. As a reminder, it is mandatory to update your console for online connectivity.
