ARDMORE, Pa. (WPVI) –The frenzy for Apple’s new foldable iPhone debut has caused long lines at Apple stores across the Delaware Valley.
The company’s first foldable device, the iPhone Duo, goes on sale in just hours.
People have been lined up outside Apple stores all night, including in Ardmore and Center City Philadelphia, waiting to flip open their own iPhone Duo.
In Center City, iPhone enthusiasts tell Action News, they began lining up at 11pm Thursday night.
“I told myself if I see one person out here waiting, then I’m getting out and waiting. I’ve been waiting for like 7 years, said Aaron, who was among those waiting in line. “That explains it. I been waiting!”
Apple describes the phone as having a breakthrough foldable design.
It has the largest display ever on iPhone and it will also be the thinnest iPhone ever.
The phone opens to a 7.6 inch display that is 80% larger than the newest iPhone 18 Pro. It will let people use an Apple Pencil on the phone, a capability previously reserved to iPad users.
Apple also promises the phone has an advanced camera and new IOS operating system experience.
Duo “will redefine the experience of using a foldable phone,” Apple’s CEO says.

The Duo also lets users split the screen to use two different apps on the device, or two windows the same website for things like comparison shopping.
“It’s a new phone! First time Apple came out with a flip phone like some people call, but it’s a foldable. Something new, why not?” said Jay, to Action News. “It’s Apple, it’s 100 percent worth it.”
Many of Apple’s biggest rivals, such as Samsung, Motorola and Google, have already come out with foldable smartphones.
Online pre-orders sold out almost instantly and Apple says in store supplies are limited.
Stores in the Delaware Valley plan to open two hours early at 8 a.m. for the anticipated rush.
The phone will run you anywhere from $1,900, to up to $3,000, depending on storage capacity selection.
