From digital farming to connected factories
PepsiCo India has digitised its potato procurement process and farmer transactions. It is also using Cropin’s satellite-based crop intelligence platform to provide farmers with data-driven agronomic insights.
Information from these digital systems is shared through SMS alerts and guidance from agronomists, helping farmers make decisions on crop health, irrigation, harvesting and input management.
In manufacturing, digital shop-floor systems provide real-time visibility into plant performance, production throughput and downtime. The systems are intended to help teams identify operational issues and respond more quickly.
The company is also deploying Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and AI-enabled Transport Control Towers to improve warehouse productivity, logistics visibility and transportation planning.
These initiatives form part of its broader effort to improve supply chain efficiency while supporting its sustainability objectives.
AI and digital tools expand across retail network
PepsiCo India is also using digital tools to strengthen its go-to-market operations, including handheld salesforce automation, distributor management systems, geo-tagged retail execution and AI-powered image recognition.
The image recognition capabilities support its Perfect Store programme, providing greater visibility into retail execution across its sales network.
The company is further using its WhatsApp-based PEP Connect platform to engage with retailers, while Pep Genie supports personalised consumer engagement and loyalty initiatives.
Beyond these applications, PepsiCo India is expanding AI use across planning, innovation and enterprise operations, while providing employees access to the company’s enterprise AI platforms.
