Vivo has officially announced the Indian rollout schedule for OriginOS 7, its highly anticipated software skin based on Android 17. Promising far more than just incremental tweaks, Vivo’s latest interface delivers comprehensive system-wide upgrades and integrates essential artificial intelligence features, marking a significant leap forward for the brand’s software ecosystem.
A Phased Rollout Prioritizing Flagships
As is customary with major firmware updates, the deployment strategy prioritizes Vivo’s premium handset tier. The rollout will officially kick off toward the end of October, with the flagship X300 series and the ultra-premium X Fold 5 foldable being the first in line to receive the Android 17 treatment.
Following the initial flagship wave, the update will cascade down to the X200 family in mid-November. The mid-range V-series is slated to follow in mid-December, with the broader deployment expanding to encompass the budget-conscious T and Y series devices through the first quarter of the following year.
Preparation and Installation Protocols
Because OriginOS 7 represents a substantial architectural upgrade, the over-the-air (OTA) download will span several gigabytes. To ensure a seamless transition, users are strongly advised to maintain at least 10GB of free internal storage. Furthermore, any older, pending system updates must be installed before the device can transition to Android 17.
While Vivo will deploy push notifications as the update becomes available for specific devices, these alerts can sometimes be delayed. For the fastest access, users are encouraged to manually navigate to their system settings and check for updates periodically during their designated release window.
