Dr. Manjeet Rege, director of the Center for Applied AI at the University of St. Thomas College of Engineering, has recently published two books on artificial intelligence. The first concerns the ethics and public understanding of AI, and the second focuses on AI-powered robotics in the medical field.
Rege co-wrote Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence: Frameworks, Risks, and Society with Dr. Hemachandran K. Their aim is to serve an audience who wants to understand AI, not read through dense academic papers or listen to news stories engineered for reaction.
“I wanted to write a book that anyone could pick up and walk away from feeling smarter. Not more anxious. Smarter,” Rege said.
His second book, AI Powered Developments in Medical Robotics: Data-Driven Techniques for Enhanced Surgical Efficiency, was published in partnership with Thomas Heinrich Musiolik, Dr. Hemachandran K and Raul Villamarin Rodriguez. This book is a part of Elsevier’s Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery series.
Rege and his partners explain how AI is reshaping the medical field, specifically on the use of robotics during surgery. They also look ahead to how this technology might shape the industry through the use of augmented and virtual reality in medical robotics, and the regulations and challenges that come with it.
