Samsung has officially announced its flagship tablet lineup for the year, the Galaxy Tab S12 series. The Galaxy Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra bring the hardware we expected, but they also come with long-term software support. Samsung continues to offer some of the longest update commitments in the Android market.
Galaxy Tab S12 series will get updates up to Android 24
The Galaxy Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra ship with Android 17-based One UI 9 out of the box. Samsung is also promising seven generations of Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for both tablets.
Since the Tab S12 series starts with Android 17, both tablets should receive updates through Android 24. That could mean support for One UI 16 as well, assuming Samsung maintains its current naming and update schedule.

The hardware should also help the tablets stay relevant for years. Samsung has equipped both models with high-end components, while future One UI updates will continue bringing new features and improvements.
Samsung will also provide regular security updates throughout the supported period. This should keep the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra protected against newer security threats. As flagship S series tablets, they also get Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features.
With Android 17 out of the box and seven years of security support, the Galaxy Tab S12 series should remain supported well into the 2030s. That makes the tablets a better long-term option for users who plan to keep their devices for several years.
